About Ru Ceramics

The Ru Kiln, located in Lunru County, Henan Province, China, represents another important celadon school that grew in northern China during the Song dynasty. It is one of the main five government kilns from ancient China to the present. Similar in shape to the Longquan Kiln, Ru Kiln porcelains also have slight cracks, which are created by a small percentage of iron in the glaze that oxidizes and turns greenish when fired. There are several types of Ru accessory colors, such as moon white, sky blue, pea green, robin's egg green, sky green, green pink, and so on. The cracks will become more evident as they absorb the tea liquid, a process quite similar to the Yixing teapot.
